Council Meeting – 8th January 2025
To Members of the East Hanney Parish Council:
YOU ARE HEREBY SUMMONED to attend a meeting of the Parish Council
on Wednesday 8th January 2025 at 7.30pm
to be held in the Olde Hanney Room, Hanney War Memorial Hall
for the purpose of conducting the following business:

Members of the public wishing to address the Council during the formal meeting must make the Chairman aware of their intention before the meeting starts. Under the Public Bodies (Admissions to Meetings) Act 1960, the public may be excluded whenever publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted. Members of the public wishing to record the meeting are asked to notify the Chairman of their intentions so that appropriate arrangements can be made for the recording, in accordance with the Council’s Standing Orders and Recording of Meetings Policy.
- To receive apologies for absence
- To receive any Declarations of Interest from Councillors relating to items on the agenda.
3. To facilitate public participation with regard to items on the agenda. Anyone wishing to address the Council will be given three minutes to do. The public participation period shall not exceed 30 minutes.
- To receive updates from District Councillor.
- To receive updates from County Councillor.
- To confirm the accuracy of the minutes of the last meeting of the Council.
- Receive the budget plan for 2025/26 – RFO to attend and councillors to agree
- SESRO (Abingdon reservoir). Mark Mathews SESRO Engagement Manager will give a briefing to East Hanney parish.
- Agree who will attend Highways meeting and what the list of priorities will be.
- Flooding – should there be a sub committee or councillor with flooding as their responsibility to represent the PC in all activities?
- Trees – 400+ trees applied for Kings Leases, is there any funding for planting? May need stakes and plastic wrap.
- Training ILCA (currently doing FILCA that Challow funded), cost is £144.
RFO response to be reviewed – see previously sent email.
- Walking Tour of Hanney – can we build upon the existing sign boards (Legion/Iron Bridge) and add the land at Rosie Bees and the Walnut tree as POS – describing the purpose of this land, the fact that it is public space and what may have happened in this area in the past. Cllr Aram is happy to lead on this one. Would require help and funding if approved.
- Brook Footpath bund – Who is attending works on 12th January, agree who is leading & conducting Risk Assessments, what is required etc.
- The installation of the playground gate.
- Letter to SESRO – Discuss provision of a letter to the Secretary of State with the concerns regarding SESRO and its impact on our village & community.
- To receive updates arising from the previous minutes and ongoing projects not otherwise on the agenda:

Rosie B’s S106 Land Transfer | Solicitors appointed. Awaiting progress.
Land adjacent to Dandridge’s Close under a separate title deed. Legal costs for land transfer to be paid by Vistry. It is not possible for PC is to be a Director of the Management Committee. Commuted Sum is index linked. The play area will be taken over once the legal handover has taken place. |
Vistry is now unable to put me in funds until the first week of January. RFO & Cllr Kirk – waiting for the new year to raise a new invoice. |
Fox | Fox has been installed. Retention to cover outstanding items – awaiting Kompan to complete. Clerk emailed Steve Sylvester (Director) 15/4/24.
Kompan have now raised an order for works to be undertaken FOC. |

Received paint codes but witing for Sharp bird tail to be done highlighted by ROSPA inspection – RR has emailed, awaiting response. Decide on what to do with this – with-hold payment and pay for another company to complete? |
Trim trail/gym | To agree the location along the western edge of Kings Leases | Equipment & installation needs to be conducted. Who is owner, next steps? |
Defibrillator | Awaiting installation following building works. | Register on WebNos/The Circuit. Who to action? |
